Major Sponsorship Announcement

Published Fri 26 Jan 2024

We are delighted to announce that Fortis Physiotherapy have agreed to partner with the AFLCUA for an initial 3-year period. Colin Larter (AFLCUA President) and Graeme Loaney (AFLCUA Vice President) sealed this relationship with Fortis partners Scott Gordon and Scott Hancock at their premises during the week.

Fortis Physiotherapy is a locally-owned Canberra business with its premises located on the Australian National University campus. For those of you that have been around umpiring for a while, the name Scott Gordon will be familiar. Also known by his nickname “Sugar”, he is a former AFL Canberra, NEAFL and AFL Boundary umpire.

The final sponsorship package is still subject to approval by AFL NSW/ACT but is looking to include the following benefits for AFLCUA members:

  • Discounted treatment rates
  • Priority appointments
  • Free strength assessments, and Health and Physical Wellness education

These benefits are in addition to a significant item which will include the Fortis logo and is one of the reasons why the AFLCUA has requested umpires’ shirt sizes via a Google form link in Josh Dunstall’s (Umpire Coordinator Canberra and surrounding regions) recent all umpire email.

This is a great outcome for the AFLCUA as it creates the opportunity for the Association to provide significant additional benefits to not only our members, but all umpires registered in 2024. The final details of the package will be shared with members in the coming weeks.

In the interim, if you have not already done so, please sign-up for your 2024 Association Membership and compete the umpire shirt size Google form ASAP.

Remember, the Association has “More in Store in 2024”.
